Martha R. Fender, 89, of Waterloo, Indiana, died Sunday, December 24, 2023, at her home.

She was born December 31, 1933, in Scottsdale, Indiana, to Lula Denney.

She worked as a waitress, bartender, and at Sechler's Pickles in Butler. She retired from Universal in Butler.

Martha enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and going to garage sales. Reading comics, romance novels, and the National Inquirer were a favorite pastime. She also was current on the news and kept a journal of the weather where she could tell you what the weather was like several years ago on any given date. And, she dearly loved the family dog, Tia who was her body guard.

Surviving are three daughters, Marsha Traster of Waterloo, Georgia Craig of Fort Wayne, and Wanda Fender-Brunner of Auburn; two sons, William Fender of Florida and Hullett "Jr" Fender of Butler; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lula Nelly; two daughters, Nancy Sue Fender and Robin Wiseman.

Per Martha's wishes, there will be no visitation or services.

A celebration of life service is being planned for next summer.
