Martha A. Cobbs, 87, of Wolcottville died Tuesday, November 8, 2011, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Cobbs was a graduate of Kendallville High School and a lifetime resident of Wolcottville and LaGrange County.
She had worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne for five years. She then worked in the office of Dr. Pulskamp in Wolcottville. She also worked 28 years for LaGrange County, where she was a deputy assessor and served as the LaGrange County assessor from 1975 to 1986. She worked in other LaGrange County offices, with her last position being in the treasurer's office.
Martha was a member of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 381 Auxiliary in Rome City, and the LaGrange Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She was born January 10, 1924, in Noble County to David W. and Nancy (Reed) Fiandt. On October 10, 1948, she married Robert L. Cobbs. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2003.
Surviving are a daughter, Reverend Nancy Jo Cobbs of Baytown, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Katarina Cobbs of North Webster; three grandchildren, Kim, Gretchen, and David; several great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Zula Fiandt of Blackman Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Herman Fiandt, in 1929.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Wolcottville United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jack Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.
Pallbearers will be David James Fiandt, Dean Gillespie, Mitch Fiandt, Jim Neumann, Tom Hulen, and Duane Targgart.
Calling is Friday, November 11, 2011, from 2 to 7 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the Wolcottville United Methodist Church.
