Marlene K. Smith, 74, of Hudson, Indiana, died Friday, October 20, 2023, at Northern Lakes Nursing and Rehab in Angola

She was born July 27, 1949, in Hudson, Indiana, to Merland and Marie (Getts) Hart.

On July 3, 1966, in Ashley she married Steven Michael Smith. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2018.

Mrs. Smith worked as a quality engineer at Hudson Industries in Hudson and Dana in Columbia City. She served as the Hudson Clerk-Treasurer and on the Hudson Town Council for many years.

She was a member of the Pleasant Chapel Church of the Brethren.

Marlene enjoyed doing genealogy, reading, crocheting, and being on the computer.

Surviving are a son, Rick (Brooke) Smith of Pleasant Lake; three daughters, Stephanie (Kelly) Snyder of Hudson, Candy (Dan) King of Fremont, and Kallie M. Egly of Hudson; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Hart of Hudson; and a sister, Shirley Clark of Boise, Idaho.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Keith Hart and Robert Hart; and four sisters, Betty Emerick, June Emerick, Eunis Hart, and Gloria Keezer.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Valarie Kline officiating.

Burial will follow at Circle Cemetery near Hudson.

Pallbearers are Dan King, Michael Clingan, Jeremy Egly, Joe Egly, Jon Egly, and Anthony Hubbard.

Memorials may be directed to the Pleasant Chapel Church of the Brethren.
