Obituary

Margaret Joann VanAuken, 71, of Rome City died Friday, December 26, 2008, at 8:48 a.m. in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. VanAuken was a lifetime area resident. She was a Registered Nurse and a homemaker. She attended the First Baptist Church in Rome City.

She was born September 4, 1937, in Kendallville to Gerald LeRoy and Bertha Anna (Greenwalt) Hoover. On December 2, 1972, in Kendallville she married Wilbur J. VanAuken. He survives at Sylvan Lake, Rome City.

Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Diana Lynn and Robert Fromm of Fort Wayne; a son, Larry Lee Martin of Kendallville; a stepson and his wife, James and Teresa VanAuken of Ligonier; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth LeRoy Hoover of Burr Oak, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Lee Martin in 2005; a sister, Janice Wells in 2006; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at the Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Calling will be Monday, December 29, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
