Obituary

Margaret M. "Peg" Scott, 77, of Kendallville died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.

She was a lifetime area resident.

Mrs. Scott was the first surgical technician at McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville. She later was the branch office administrator for Edward D. Jones in Kendallville for 20 years.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville, Tri Kappa, and Sigma Eta. She was also a volunteer for Parkview Noble Hospice. Her great love of music led her to be the organist at the First Presbyterian Church in Kendallville for over 50 years.

Peg was named the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow while in high school in 1957. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, and researching her family heritage. She loved traveling, especially to northern Michigan and to Scotland, which was her family home. She appreciated all of nature and caring for others by frequently taking casseroles to their homes.

She was born March 6, 1939, in Kendallville to Clarence C. and Maxine (May) Gillian. They preceded her in death.

She married Richard "Dick" Slough, M.D. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1967. She then married Raymond L. "Ray" Scott. He survives in Kendallville.

Also surviving are a three daughters, Gretchen Slough Bradley of Kendallville. Tammy (Jim) Stephens of Williamstown, Massachusetts, and Dr. Loren Brooks of Medway, Massachusetts; and two grandchildren, Gabriel Stephens and Abigail Stephens.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Gillian.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 27, 2016, at 1 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Dr. Robert Shriner of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Calling is Thursday, May 26, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
