Obituary

Margaret Ruth (Lewis) Metz, March 28, 1924 to April 29, 2024. Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Margaret "Peg" was born in Universal, Vermillion County, Indiana to Harry T. and Margaret (Hughes) Lewis. She had three half brothers, Jack, James and Robert.

On May 31, 1942, Peg married Kahrl A. Metz. After he served in WWII, the two moved to Kendallville, where he accepted a teaching position at Kendallville High School. Margaret became a homemaker and mother, raising five children, Ronald Gene (Charlotte), Kathy Ann (deceased), Micheal Kahrl (Linda), Mark Lewis (Janette), and Matthew Jon (Linda Sikora), (Dawn Metz).

Peg loved nine grandchildren, Kristen Kozan (Michael), Rhonda McKillen (Michael), Charles Metz (Katie), Sarah Thomas (Matthew), Rachel Estrada (Brandon), Laura Aberle (Ben), Becky Travis (Michael), Evan Metz, and Isabel Metz.

She also loved and enjoyed fifteen great-grandchildren, Kahrlee, Andrew, Patrick, Brady, Matthew, Willow, Wilder, Caleb, Annie, Josie, Savanna, Shilo, Sunny, Miles, and Sylvia.

Peg enjoyed making beautiful quilts, reading a good book with a cat on her lap, and was known for her delicious pies. She joyfully celebrated the milestone of her 100th birthday, surrounded by family and friends.

She spent the last few years of her life living with her sons, Micheal and Ron in both LaGrange and Winter Haven, Florida.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Burial will follow beside her husband, Kahrl and daughter, Kathy in Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons, Charles Metz, Evan Metz, Andrew Kozan, Patrick McKillen, Brady McKillen, and Mathew McKillen.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to The Arc Noble County Foundations or the Parkinson's Association.
