Marcia Lynn (Adams) Thayer, 62, of Fort Wayne died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:40 p.m. in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She lived in Fort Wayne seven years, coming from Kendallville where she lived for 11 years. She was a teacher and a homemaker.
Marcia graduated in 1968 from Concordia Junior College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She also graduated in 1970 from Concordia College, Seward, Nebraska, with a bachelor's degree in education and English literature.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Kendallville.
A note Marcia wrote in her Bible states, "Celebrate grace; make disciples; make a difference."
She was born March 27, 1948, in Sidney, Ohio, to John and Lois (Nichols Deemer) Adams. They survive in Atlanta, Georgia. On August 1, 1970, in Thompson, Ohio, she married Lyman Thayer. He survives in Fort Wayne.
Also surviving are a sister, Mollie Burrows of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister-cousin, Janet Dailey of Fort Wayne; her daughters-by-choice, Pam Ordway of Auburn, Becky Fortriede of Fort Wayne, and Susie Ginger of Kendallville; and her grandchildren-by-choice, Alyssa Ordway, Tristan Ordway, Peter Fortriede, Zachary Fortriede, Evan Fortriede, Jack Fortriede, Alyssa Ginger, and Jonathan Ginger.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alga and Esther (Gibson) Adams.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, 301 South Oak Street, Kendallville, with Rev. Paul B. Griebel and Rev. Dr. Robert Shriner officiating.
Calling is Friday, March 25, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
