Obituary

Lynn Stuart Stockwell, 83, of Hudson, Indiana, died Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Chandler Place in Kendallville.

He was born April 29, 1941, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Melvin and Theda Marilyn (Leas) Stockwell.

He grew up on the farm of his grandparents, Heber and Maybelle Leas near Hudson. He graduated from Salem Center School in 1959.

On September 23, 1962, in Stroh he married Karen May Perkins. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2022.

Mr. Stockwell was a dairy farmer and a school bus driver for Salem Center School.

He was a member of the Stroh Church of Christ, Stroh Lions Club, Circle Cemetery Board, and the Steuben County Extension Board. He served in the National Guard for six years and on the Prairie Heights School Board for 16 years. He also served on the Steuben County Community Foundation Grants Committee.

Lynn had been involved with the Circle Cemetery since 1976, where he was the caretaker for many years.

Lynn was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan and was privileged to own two seats from their old stadium. He attended the 1984 World Series where the Detroit Tigers defeated San Diego.

Surviving are a daughter, Brenda (Rick) Shipe of Angola; two sons, Kevin (Lisa) Stockwell of Hudson and Tom (Patti) Stockwell of Noblesville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alison (Pete) Young of Cicero and Linda (John) Luther of the Detroit area; and two brothers, Allan (Linda) Fowler of Midland, Michigan, and Robert (Karen) Stockwell of Washington.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Stroh Church of Christ, 4540 S 1100 W, Hudson with Pastor Mike Hamm officiating.

Burial will follow at Circle Cemetery near Hudson.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Danny Shipe, Kyle Stockwell, Derick Shipe, Jennifer Barclay, Jessica Conrad, Laura VanRoessel, and Rachel Stockwell.

Visitation is Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Preferred memorials may be directed to Circle Cemetery, Inc.
