Lyman H. Deming, 81, of Kendallville died Sunday, January 1, 2012, in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.

Mr. Deming moved to this area in 1962, coming from New York. He retired from Taylor-Made in Kendallville after 34 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

He was born June 17, 1930, in Mayfield, New York, to Lyman E. and Verna M. (Ryther) Deming.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue & Ken Tuchel of DeWitt, Michigan, Cheryl & Lenny Clouse of Wolcottville, and Madilyn & Robert Davis of Kendallville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Terri Deming of Kendallville and James Deming of Rome City; 11 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Earl Deming, Carl Deming, and James Deming.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 5 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Pastor Robert Farmer of the First Christian Church in Kendallville officiating. Honor guard services will be provided by Kendallville VFW Post 2749 and Rome City American Legion Post 381, with a flag folding ceremony by Max Franklin and Mark Mendenhall.

Calling is Wednesday, January 4, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Preferred memorials are to the Noble County Humane Shelter.
