Lucy C. Walter, 93, of Kendallville died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 2:45 p.m. in Shepherd of the Hill, Kendallville.
Mrs. Walter had resided at the nursing home since January, 2000, coming from Rome City. She was a homemaker, and, along with her husband owned and operated Orpheum Dry Cleaners in Fort Wayne for many years.
She was a member of the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed fishing, boating, reading, crocheting, knitting, travelling, and going to Chicago with her husband. Her grandchildren always remembered her as being a "spiffy dresser".
She was born August 7, 1915, in Fort Wayne to Frank Albert & Myrtle E. (Springer) Moses. On April 30, 1934, she married Leonard C. Walter.
Surviving are a daughter, Marylin Donat of Rome City; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Walter of Rome City; four granddaughters, Jodi Cooper, Dawn Hutcherson, Kathy DeMuyt, and Christine Hartman; three grandsons, Eric Walter, Len Walter, and Terry Donat; 13 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; and one great great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Leonard C. Walter, Jr.; a son-in-law, Richard Donat; a sister, Harriet Hissong; and a brother, Roy Moses.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 1, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, with Pastor Jim Mertz of the South Milford Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Tim Cooper, Eric Walter, Len Walter, Damen DeMuyt, Brandon Donat, and Mark Rensberger.
Calling will be Friday, May 1, 2009, from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Shepherd of the Hill or South Milford Church of Christ.
