Lucy Elizabeth Higginbotham, 75, of Wolcottville, Indiana died Saturday, August 2, 2025, at her residence.
She was born July 15, 1950, in Garrett to Joseph and Beatrice (Kreiebrink) Teders.
On October 4, 1969, in Avilla, she married John M. "Mike" Higginbotham. He survives in Wolcottville.
Mrs. Higginbotham retired from Macy's in Fort Wayne as a sales associate.
She was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City.
Lucy enjoyed gardening, crafting, and making flower bouquets. She loved spending time with family and friends.
Also surviving are four children, Joy Slaven of Wolcottville, Janet (Shawn) Mynhier of Westler Lake, Wolcottville, Paul (Jodi) Higginbotham of Dallas Lake, Wolcottville, and Julie Higginbotham of Wolcottville; three grandchildren, Inali (Amelia Romey) Slaven, Brittany (Bobby) Elliott, and Parker (Alana Lester) Higginbotham; four great-grandchildren, Bryson Elliott, Blayke Elliott, Mateo Slaven, and Alayza Romey, and a great-grandson on the way; two sisters, Theresa Meyer of Avilla, and Henrietta Harris of LaOtto; and a brother, Herman Teders of Avilla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Benjamin Slaven; and three sisters, Mary Fike, Betty Teders, and Alice Meyer and two brothers, Leo Teders and Henry Teders.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.
Memorial services will be Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Patroness of America Center, 2730 E. Northport Road, Rome City with Father Louis Fowoyo officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Gaspar Catholic Cemetery.
