Loyd "Bud" Smith, 74, of LaGrange, Indiana, died Monday, July 29, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born May 7, 1950, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, to Arthur and Henrietta (Oliver) Smith.

On August 2, 1974, in Kendallville he married Dawn Marie Rhoades.

Mr. Smith owned and operated the Mongo Sporting Goods Store in Mongo several years ago.

Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, riding the four-wheeler, and motorcycles. He just loved being outdoors.

Surviving are his wife, Dawn Smith of LaGrange; a son, Bud Smith of LaGrange; three sisters, Kathleen Slone of Columbia City, Edwina (Jim) Patrick of Warsaw, and Naomi Smith of Warsaw; a brother, Mack (Ann Martinez) Smith of Ligonier; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edna Smith and Betty Ann Rodman; and three brothers, Harold Dean Smith, Oley Smith, and Doug Smith.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Earl Bolen officiating.

Visitation is Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Mongo Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Tim Smith, Billy Smith, Chris Rodman, Christopher Foreman, Doug Smith, Jeremy Patrick, and Hot Rod Smith.
