Louise Ann Stangland, 75, of Albion, Indiana, died Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne with her family at her side.
She was born November 21, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to James E. and Esther (Roberson) Friskney. They preceded her in death.
On June 21, 1969, in Burr Oak, Indiana, she married Danny J. Stangland. He survives in Albion.
Louise became a real estate broker in June, 1989. She owned Heritage Group Real Estate, PC in Albion and Rome City.
She was a member of Merriam Christian Chapel, Happy Homemakers Home Extension Club, National Association of Realtors, Indiana Association of Realtors, Fort Wayne Association of Realtors, Northeast Indiana Association of Realtors, and served on the board of directors for Fort Wayne Multiple Listing Service. She was also active in Sarah's Circle Women's Ministry at her church.
Louise enjoyed genealogy and learning about new cultures. She dearly loved her grandchildren and attending all of their interests and extra-curricular events.
To know Louise was to encounter a gentle spirit with a giving heart. She loved people thoroughly even when they were difficult, demanding, and unpleasant. She carried out her ministry to others through a quiet life of service. Her gentle hugs and reassuring words will be missed by her family. Her family feels they were blessed by her presence and are rejoicing in the fact that she is safely in the arms of Jesus
Also surviving are a daughter, Kristin (Jeff) Mains of Columbia City; a son, Erik (Rachel) Stangland of Brownstown; six grandchildren, Elisabeth, David, Katherine, Asaiah, Matthias, and Zacharias Mains; a sister, Linda Atkinson of Columbia City; and a brother, Dale (Sue) Friskney of Albion.
Visitation is Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Merriam Christian Chapel, 3985 S US Highway 33, Albion.
The funeral service is Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor Steve Pulley officiating.
Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Stump, Daniel Stangland, Don Gaerte, and Bill Shultz. Active pallbearers are Jeff Mains, David Mains, Dale Friskney, Aaron McGinnis, Kert Resler, and David Keister.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials be made to Sarah's Circle in care of the church.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
