Lotchie Conley, 78, of Wolcottville died Friday, April 08, 2011, in his residence with his family at his side.
Mr. Conley moved to this area in 1943 from Kentucky. He was self-employed as a truck driver for most of his life, and has been in every state except Hawaii. He retired from Tenneco Automotive in Ligonier.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was a member of the Waterloo Freewill Baptist Church and American Legion Post 777 in Indianapolis.
Lotchie loved to play stringed instruments, and he enjoyed reading.
He was born August 26, 1932, in Floyd County, Kentucky, to Will and Pearlie (Handshoe) Conley. On June 23, 1956, in Stroh he married Lola Sizemore.
Surviving are his wife, Lola Conley of Wolcottville; a son, Ron Conley of Indianapolis; and three daughters, Cathy Sue Conley of Wolcottville, Vicki (Brent) Perkins of Wolcottville, and Shawn (Jerry) Gallegos of Stroh; five grandchildren, Lindsey Perkins, Tristan Perkins, Rochelle Brettell, Danielle Conley, and Kirstie Conley; and three great grandchildren, Gracelyn Conley, Xander Brooks, and Rielyn Brettell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Erma Hunter.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 11, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Ron Stambaugh and Pastor Rick Davis officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by VFW Post 2749, American Legion Post 381, and active duty members of the U.S. Air Force.
Casketbearers will be Brent Perkins, Jerry Gallegos, Rodney Migrant, Harold Conley, Wesley Martin, and John Campbell.
Calling is Sunday, April 10, 2011, from 3 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
