Lorraine A. Bay, 84, of Kendallville, Indiana, died Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Ascension Sacred Heart Home in Avilla.

She was born July 12, 1939, in Mahnomen, Minnesota, to Ernest and Verlie (Cluckey) Haak,

On November 2, 1958, in Santa Monica, California, she married Jimmy Carl "Jim" Bay. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1976.

Mrs. Bay worked as a waitress at the V&A Restaurant and Shook's Restaurant, both in Kendallville.

She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kendallville and was a former member of the Kendallville Moose Lodge.

Lorraine enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre. She loved to watch Westerns and was a fan of IU basketball. But, most of all, she dearly loved spending time with family.

Surviving are a son, Richard (Nancy) Bay of Garrett; a daughter, Laurie Rutherford of Marietta, Ohio; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Fred) Kramer, Andi (Michael) Zavor, and Thad (Nicole) Bay; a step-grandson, Charles Wills; and three great-grandchildren, Kellan Bay, Nolan Kramer, and Ayrka Kramer.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son, William Frank "Winkie" Bay; a son-in-law, Tim Rutherford; seven brothers and sisters, Ted Haak, Violet Eggum, Lloyd Haak, LeRoy Haak, Don Haak, Jimmy Haak, and Warren Haak; and her significant other, David Stout.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Albaugh officiating.

Preferred memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kendallville.
