Everybody's Mamaw and dearly loved by all, Loraine "Lorie" Holliday, 87, of Rome City died peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was born November 3, 1937, in Hindman, Kentucky, to Cephus and Creola "Ola" (Slone) Mosley.
She had worked at BRC Rubber in Ligonier and was a homemaker.
Lorie enjoyed playing Bingo, going to garage sales, shopping with her daughters, and eating at her favorite restaurant, Golden Corral. She loved many things in life, including listening to her son, Mickey play the guitar, getting her feet rubbed by her son, Chris, and having her daughters care for her. Her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving are five daughters, Beverly (Gene) Beckner of Rome City, Marcella (Ed Ritchie) Gillian of Rome City, Kim (Erik) Keck of Wolcottville, Lisa (Jeff Lepard) Fugate of Kendallville, and Teresa (Larry) Criswell of Rome City; two sons, Chris Holliday of Rome City and Mickey Holliday of Rome City; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Holliday of South Milford; 19 grandchildren, Michael, Travis Courtney, Casey, Sydney, Brittny, Cary, Lorie, Chaz, Austin, Isabella, Cody, Angel, Danielle, Cole, Kyra, Malorie, Nicholas, and Desmond; 32 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren and two more on the way; and two sisters, Betty Abner of Ligonier and Flossie Davis of Kendallville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sturgill Holliday on August 7,2002; a son, Michael Holliday; two grandchildren, Jasmine and Amy; a great-grandchild, Corey; four sisters, Elsie Mae, Lovella, Marie, and Dorothy; and five brothers, Ellis, Taulby, Alonzo, Leroy, and James.
Visitation will be Monday, January 27, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grace Christian Church in Kendallville. An evening service will be held at 6 p.m. with Pastor Anthony Hagerman and Pastor Aaron Hagerman officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Lorie's funeral service will be Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 12 p.m. at the church with Pastor Scotty Ritchie officiating.
Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Pallbearers are Chris Holliday, Mickey Holliday, Cole Criswell, Austin Keck, Cary Gillian, Cody Fugate, Michael Holliday, and Travis Holliday.
Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
