IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois Loraine
Parker
March 13, 1929 – May 14, 2016
Lois Loraine Parker, 87, of Kendallville, died Saturday, May 14, 2016, in the home of her daughter, Debra Lane in Romeo, Michigan.
Loraine was a lifetime area resident and retired as a corporate secretary and controller for Quick Tanks, also in Kendallville.
She was born March 13, 1929, in Wolcottville, to Charles Earl and Lois LaRue (Lampman) Mynhier.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra (Wendell) Lane of Romeo, Michigan, Taimi Steigmeyer of Round Rock, Texas, and Jan Parker of Austin, Texas; and a son, Jeff Parker of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren Brandi Lane, Adam Lane, Trey (Sara) Lane, Danyelle (Kevin) Hatter, Nathan (Laura) Eck, Lucas Steigmeyer, and Ian Steigmeyer. Additionally, great-grandchildren Jakob Hatter, Nolan Lane, Norah Lane, and Carson Eck; a sister, Roberta Ober of Albion; and a brother, Robert D. Mynhier of Wolcottville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leonard Mynhier and Gene Mynhier.
Loraine spent a lot of time with her brother Robert, frequenting antiques shows where the two would find furniture that they lovingly restored. Loraine had an eye for decorating, often helping her family members in their homes. Together, her and Bob were whizzes at hanging framed pictures in just the perfect spot. There was rarely a Sunday where you did not find the pair enjoying their usual order at Pizza Hut, followed by a movie afterward. She was the "go to" seamstress including making many of her daughters outfits to keep up with the trends, her daughter Debra's wedding dress; and endless holes, rips, and alterations brought on by growing grandchildren. During her down time, Loraine enjoyed reading and had an endless stash of puzzle books to keep her mind sharp. She was an avid walker and could often be seen walking at Bixler Lake while stopping to talk with friends or strangers, and always stopped to meet every pet she saw. In fact, until shortly before her death, she was still walking two plus miles every day.
What Loraine (lovingly nicknamed Grandma Binky) enjoyed most was spending time with her family. She took great interest in knowing each child, grandchild, and great grandchild. She would watch movies they liked, or read books that they liked in effort to know them better. Loraine had a way of making each one feel special. She often traveled between Texas and Michigan for events big and small. She never missed a birthday and the cards always arrived on time. As her family has said, she was the best of us all.
A private celebration of life service will held at a later date. Loraine shared with her family a love of animals, should you wish to honor her life please or send your donation to Humane Society of Noble County, Designate: Building Fund, P.O.
