Lois Jean Kelly, 94, of Kendallville, Indiana died Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville, surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 29, 1930, in Albion, Indiana to Edward Cobb and Ogden Estelle (Morr) Tipton.
In 1954, she married Boyd Campbell. Then in 1978, in Idaho, she married Dan Kelly.
Mrs. Kelly was a registered nurse at Fallon Convalescent Center in Fallon, Nevada from 1984 to 1998. She moved to the Columbia City area in 1998 and was a registered nurse at McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville and Whitley County Memorial Hospital in Columbia City. She worked as a registered nurse for 52 years before retirement.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed watching the show Yellowstone and loved horses and dogs.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Rena and Jeff Schumm of Kendallville and Barbara and Steve Boyer of Waterloo; a son, Michael Campbell of New Castle; a son-in-law, Dennis Rickman; 12 grandchildren, Nathan (Becki) Schumm, Melinda Schumm, Kami Schumm, Steven (Melinda Seibert) Boyer, II, Andrew (Nicole) Boyer, James (Rachel Haynes) Boyer, Jeremy (Crystal) Morris, April (Brian) Brooke, Shane Campbell, Amanda Campbell, Brittney Campbell, and Travis (Sara) Rickman; 24 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gwen Tipton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Kelly in 1995; a daughter, Brenda Sue Rickman in 2020; a son, Charles "Chuck" Campbell in 2018; a brother, John Tipton in 2012; her twin brother, Dean Tipton in 2009, and his wife, Kathy Tipton in 2022; and her first husband, Boyd Campbell in 2000.
Memorial services will be Monday, November 25, 2024, at 6 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Regan Ford officiating.
Visitation will also be on Monday, beginning at 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at the funeral home.
