Lois Jean
Miller
September 30, 1935 – June 15, 2026
Lois Jean Miller, 90, of Rome City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026.
Born on September 30, 1935, Lois was the daughter of David W. Conner and Bessie M. (Cook) Conner. She was raised during the challenging years of the Great Depression and World War II, experiences that helped shape the resilient, compassionate, and selfless woman she would become.
On October 24, 1953, Lois married the love of her life, Max Merrill Miller, in Churubusco, Indiana. Together they shared more than 62 years of marriage, building a home filled with love and unwavering devotion to family until Max’s passing in 2016. They raised three sons and created a family that would become the pride and joy of Lois’s life.
A homemaker by heart, Lois found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother whose family was the center of her world.
Lois enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved tending to her flower beds, spending quiet afternoons reading, and making memories with family and friends at Sylvan Lake, a place that brought her tremendous happiness throughout the years.
Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Max Merrill Miller; her parents, David W. Conner and Bessie M. (Cook) Conner; her brothers, Robert D. Conner and Ralph E. Conner, who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending their country during World War II; her brother, Howard Conner; and her sisters, Julia (Conner) Gaerte, Violet (Conner) Herendeen, Elsie (Conner) Brady, and Lillian Conner.
She is survived by her sons, Max Duane (Shelly) Miller of Rome City, Mark (Jazeela) Miller of Rome City, and Kenneth (Elaine) Miller of Fort Wayne; her granddaughters, Shylla (Jerry) Busche, Alissa (Nic) Cline, and Chelsea (Jarrett) Miller; along with her 2 great-grandchildren Ava Cline and Adalyne Busche.
Though her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love lives on through the generations she nurtured and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will forever be carried in the blooming flowers of summer and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
In accordance with Lois's wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Family and friends will be notified of arrangements as they are finalized.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Private burial will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
