Lois E. (Favinger) Swartz Eckhart, 104, of Kendallville, Indiana, died Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Orchard Pointe Health Campus in Kendallville.
She was born April 8, 1920, in Green Township, Noble County, Indiana, to Grover C. and Zelma Ann (Henry) Favinger.
She was a graduate of Albion High School and Warner Beauty College in Fort Wayne.
On December 24, 1939, she married James H. Swartz. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1960. Then on October 23, 1965, she married Lauren D. Eckhart. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1991.
She had worked at Taylor Shoe Store in Kendallville for 19 years and retired in 1982 from Carteaux Insurance in Kendallville where she worked for 14 years.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville and in 1941 joined the Eastern Star #122, Noble Chapter where she was a life member and served as Past Matron. She was a past member of Sigma Beta Sorority.
Lois enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting, and needlepoint.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Thomas Godfroy of Huntsville, Alabama; four grandchildren, Rhonda Frick (Brian) Ledger of Stillman Valley, Illinois, Carroll Jeanne (Gary Burch) Schreibman of San Francisco, California, Jaime (Emmicia) Swartz of Nashville, Tennessee, and Kristin (Matt Turner) Frick of Monroe, Michigan; three step grandchildren, Milton (Holly) Eckhart, Michelle (Gary) Edwards, and Mark (Deann) Eckhart; eight great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter with one more on the way.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, James F. Swartz and Robert Ray Swartz; a stepson, Michael D. Eckhart; daughter-in-law, Susan Swartz; brother, John J. Favinger; and a granddaughter, Susan Cornell.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kim Kennedy of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville officiating.
Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
Memorials may be directed to Faith United Methodist Church, Orchard Pointe Health Campus, or Heart to Heart Hospice.
