Lexie Patrick, 84, of LaGrange passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 7, 2016, in Life Care Center, LaGrange.
He had lived in this area since 1957, coming from Kentucky.
Lexie honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and spent 17 months in Korea.
He retired from Weatherhead Company in Angola.
He was a member of the LaGrange American Legion Post 215. He formerly was a member of the Stroh Fire Department where he served as fire chief for a number of years.
Lexie loved to talk with people and tell his stories. He never met a stranger and always wanted to go for a cup of coffee and talk. He will be missed by many.
He was born May 31, 1931, in Fisty, Kentucky, to Elisha and Emmaline (Napier) Patrick.
On August 31, 1954, he married Mary M. Tuttle. She survives in LaGrange.
Also surviving are two daughters, Octavia (Sam) Perkins of Hudson and Gwendolyn (Kurt Lombard) Pratt of Albion; a son, Denver "Bud" (Connie) Patrick of Stroh; five grandchildren, Jamie Hays, Nick Patrick, Nathan Patrick, Desiree Pratt, and Lindsay Pratt; six great-grandchildren, Isaac Hays, Zachary Hays, Alexis Hays, Aubree Hays, Caliber Patrick, and Gatlin Patrick; a sister, Mae Darvis of Indianapolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Hays in 2014; eight brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 11, 2016, at 2 p.m. in Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Lisbon with Elder Russell Hicks and Elder Morris Wicker officiating. Burial will be in Brushy Chapel Cemetery in LaGrange County.
Honorary pallbearers will be Isaac Hays, Caliber Patrick, Gatlin Patrick, and Kurt Lombard. Active pallbearers will be Denver "Bud" Patrick, Nicholas Patrick, Nathan Patrick, Lee Dixon, Sam Perkins, and Jamie Hays
Honor guard services will be provided by the LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and active duty members of the U.S. Army.
Preferred memorials are to the Stroh Fire Department or Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church.
Calling will be Thursday, March 10, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
