Funeral services will be Monday, November 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Grace Christian Church, 126 East Mitchell Street, Kendallville.

Calling is Sunday, November 2, 2014, from 3 to 8 p.m. in the church and one hour prior to the services on Monday. ******************************************************************************************

Leslie Darrel Nickles, 59, of Kendallville died Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 2:40 p.m. in his residence following a short illness.

He moved to this area in 1972, coming from Wayland, Kentucky, where he was raised.

Mr. Nickles worked at Newnam Foundry in Kendallville for over 30 years. For the last 13 years, he has been employed as a licensed treatment operator for the Kendallville Water Department.

He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed hunting and spending time with friends and family. He was a devoted friend, brother, father, and grandfather. A selfless man, always there to lend a helping hand.

Darrel gave his life to the Lord at a young age, and was a member of Grace Christian Church in Kendallville. He was a hard worker and, in many ways, helped to improve the facilities of the church. Most of all, he encouraged others to give their lives to the Lord.

He was born December 2, 1954, in Martin, Kentucky, to Birt and Bulah (Hicks) Nickles.

Surviving are two daughters, Sarah (James) McRoberts of Kendallville and Megan (Tommy) Sutton of Kendallville; three sons, Christopher (Brandy) Christianson of Kendallville, Nathaniel (Megan) Nickles of Kendallville, and SPC Israel Nickles stationed with the U.S. Army in Vilseck, Germany; 13 grandchildren, Gabriel Ratliff, Titus Christianson, Grace Ratliff, Ethan Nickles, Justice Christianson, Caiden Nickles, Kiersten Sutton, Damien Hovarter, Lillian Sutton, Brycen Nickles, Lucy Nickles, Elijah McRoberts, and Trinity McRoberts; two sisters, Pauline Chaffins of LaGrange, Ohio, and Pearl Martin of Crittenden, Kentucky; and two brothers, Shannon Nickles of Wayland, Kentucky, and Charles Nickles of Plymouth, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Curtis Nickles and Earl Wicker.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Grace Christian Church, 126 East Mitchell Street, Kendallville with Pastor Scott Mosley, Pastor Chris Mosley, and Pastor Nate Mosley officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Christianson, Nathaniel Nickles, Israel Nickles, James McRoberts, Shannon Nickles, and Tommy Sutton.

Calling is Sunday, November 2, 2014, from 3 to 8 p.m. in the church and one hour prior to the services on Monday.

Preferred memorials are to Grace Christian Church.
