LeRoy Nelson, 67, of Kendallville died Wednesday, December 26, 2012, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne following a short illness.

He had lived in this area for six years, coming from Indianapolis.

LeRoy was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist in Kendallville and the Civil Air Patrol in Indianapolis for 15 years. He also was a clown and went by the name 'Boxcar'.

He was born December 7, 1945, in Indianapolis to Norman W. and Joanna (Dux) Nelson. On May 5, 1991, at the family homestead near Avilla he married Janet S. Gray.

Surviving are his wife, Janet S. Gray-Nelson of Kendallville; a daughter, Katherine Nelson of Indianapolis; and a son, Christopher Nelson of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Nelson.

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 31, 2012, at 12 Noon in Trinity Church United Methodist, Kendallville with Rev. G. Scott Pattison officiating. Burial will be in the Avilla Cemetery.

Calling is one hour prior to the service in the church.

Preferred memorials are to the family.
