Calling: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 - 3-8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel and one-half hour prior to services at the church on Thursday ************************************************** Leah M. Larkin, 98, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Kendallville died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Renaissance Village in Fort Wayne.
Prior to moving to Fort Wayne a year ago, she resided at the Lamplighter in Kendallville for 12 years.
She worked three years at the Pretty Lake School Cafeteria, and retired after 15 ½ years in the Dietary Department at McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville.
Mrs. Larkin was a member of the South Milford United Methodist Church, the Friendship Club, and the RSVP Club.
She was born October 7, 1914, in Kendallville to Leonard and Minnie (Lash) Smith.
On December 24, 1932, she married Donald Herbert Kent. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1957. After being widowed for 15 years, she married Mark Larkin on September 30, 1972. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1998.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Gloria Kent of Fort Wayne; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Dale Dolby of Markle; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Smith and Paul Smith, and a granddaughter, Jana Smock.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the South Milford United Methodist Church with Pastor Barbara Cross officiating. Burial will be in the South Milford Cemetery.
Calling is Wednesday, January 30, 2013, from 3 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one-half hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to the South Milford United Methodist Church.
