Obituary

L.D. "Bo" Slone, 30, of Rome City, Indiana, started his journey as a hero through organ donation on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Franciscan Health in Crown Point, Indiana.

He was born February 23, 1995, in Auburn, Indiana, to L.D. Slone, Jr. and Lisa (Amburgey) Slone.

He worked at Chief Buildings in Renssalaer as a welder. He grew up in the Baptist church.

Bo dearly loved to fish and was looking forward to the birth of his son.

Bo was known as a giving person and even in death, his giving continues as the donation of his organs and tissue will touch the lives of many people. In fact, the family is sharing that Bo's kidneys are going to a 22-year-old family member as Bo's obituary is being written.

Surviving are his fiancé, Tasha Daniels of Renssalaer; stepchildren, Ryder Badditt and Addison Mendyke;a son, Lane Slone who is due on September 4, 2025; his mother, Lisa Slone of Stroh; his father, L.D. Slone, Jr. of Kentucky; two sisters, Tiffany (Skyler) Strouse of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Desaray (Dustin) Hicks of Rome City; a brother, Kalib (Samantha) Jackson of Crestview, Florida; paternal grandmother, Martha Patrick of Rome City; nieces and nephews, Raelynn Strouse, Rhyker Hicks, Reed Hicks, Rayne Hicks, Ada Jackson, Asher Jackson, and Everett Jackson; and his beloved dog, Apolo.

He was preceded in death by two stillborn infants; a nephew, Rhyatt Hicks; maternal grandparents, Robert and Olive Burton and Willie Amburgey; and paternal grandparents, L.D. Slone, Sr. and Leon Patrick.

Visitation will be Monday, March 17, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Harbor of Love Baptist Church, 2353 S Lima Road, Kendallville where an evening service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor Charlie Mosley and Scotty Ritchie officiating.

Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Honorary pallbearers are Rhyker Hicks, Reed Hicks, and Asher Jackson. Active pallbearers are Kalib Jackson, Dustin Hicks, Travis Blankenship, Skyler Strouse, Devin Perkins, Devin Cox, and Don Cornett.

Memorials may be directed to the family. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
