Lawrence Evans "Larry" Bishop, 81, of Kendallville died Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born February 13, 1937, in Noble County, Indiana, to Robert and Katherine (Smith) Bishop.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1959 during the Korean War.
Larry was a self-taught drummer and loved music. Being a handy person, he enjoyed working in his shop and doing yard work. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame football.
On December 19, 1963, in South Bend he married Shirley A. (Willard) Hollingsworth.
Mr. Bishop worked in property management for Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas, where he retired.
He was a 47-year member of Kendallville American Legion Post 86.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley A. Bishop of Kendallville; five daughters, Lisa Robinson of Norfolk, Virginia, Wendy Perry of Zuni, Virginia, Lariann Schweiger of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Kimberly Simmons of Kempner, Texas, and Debra Miller of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Lawrence "Duke" Bishop, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Perkins of Wolcottville and Louise Rodman of Kendallville; and a brother, Gary Bishop of Ligonier.
There will be no visitation or services. The family will have a celebration of his life at a later date.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
