Obituary

Lawnie Handshoe, 90, of Kendallville died Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.

Mrs. Handshoe was a homemaker. She moved to Kendallville over 60 years ago from Kentucky.

She was born July 31, 1919, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, to James and Elizabeth (Hale) Howard. On December 11, 1948, in Kentucky, she married Curtis Handshoe. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1998.

She is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-laws, Sharon Handshoe, Phyllis & Clyde Homister, Audrey Bailey, and Caroline and Steve West all of Kendallville, and Joyce & Carl Fields of West Unity, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Bailey of Columbus, Ohio, and Renea Walters of Angola; and one brother, Lloyd Howard of Tutor Key, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Curtis Handshoe, Jr.; two brothers; and a sister.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 19, 2010, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Chaplain David Griebel of Lutheran Life Villages officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Calling is Monday, April 19, 2010, from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
