Laura Angelique Dianne (Daniels) Smith, 60, of Huntertown, Indiana died Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

She was born January 11, 1963, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Frederick Nelson and Gail Kay (Krieger) Daniels.

Her family moved to Kendallville in 1970 where she attended school. She received her bachelor's degree in industrial engineering technology from Purdue University and her master's degree in Business Administration.

Laura was a quality manager at BAE Systems (formerly Raytheon) in Fort Wayne for 15 years.

She was a member of Lifehouse Church, Huntertown Campus, which was formerly the Huntertown United Methodist Church where she served in several different capacities.

Laura loved animals, frequently rescuing dogs and finding them forever homes. She also enjoyed reading, camping, kayaking, hiking, and just being outdoors. She loved hosting pool parties at her home and enjoying time with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Carlos M. Smith of Huntertown; a son, Jason Knapp of Auburn; a daughter, Stephanie (Daniel) Schmidt of Fort Wayne; two granddaughters, MacKenzie Knapp of Tekonsha, Michigan, and Madilyn Schmidt of Fort Wayne; two grandsons, Kaden Knapp of Tekonsha, Michigan, and Brody Schmidt of Fort Wayne; and a brother, Eric (Becky) Daniels of Kendallville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her fiancé, A.J. Haas.

Visitation will be Monday, November 20, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services on Tuesday at Lifehouse Church, Huntertown Campus, 16021 Lima Road, Huntertown.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Seth Lochmueller officiating.

Burial will follow at the Huntertown Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Lifehouse Church, Huntertown Campus or to Black Pine Animal Park.
