Larry Lynn Houser, 80, of Hamilton went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, surrounded by his family at his home.
He was born May 30, 1937, in DeKalb County to Albert and Haidee (Krontz) Houser.
On February 8, 1955, he married Shirley Jean Fifer.
Mr. Houser retired after 33 years from Navistar International, formerly International Harvester.
He was a member of the Hamilton Wesleyan Church and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Larry enjoyed taking care of the Hamilton Life Center, doing maintenance on the farm, and cutting wood. He was affectionately known to his great-grandchildren as "Grandpa the Great".
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Houser of Hamilton; a daughter, Debra (Jerry) Brown of Butler; three sons, Steven (Penny Houser of Garrett) Houser of Hamilton, Timothy (Renee) Houser of Hamilton, and Bradley (Aaron) Houser of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Andrea (Brent) Brown-Keen, Taija Ballentine, Mattie (Colin) Collins, LaKea (Justin) Smith, Zoie Houser, Zeke Houser, Zane Houser, and Zack Houser; seven great-grandchildren, Haidence Keen, Brecksley Keen, Penelopie Collins, Eloise Collins, Landon Smith, Sawyer Ballentine, and Meridith Ballentine; and two sisters, Janet Smith of Angola and Mary (Roger) Morrison of Auburn.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Carnahan in 2000; a sister, Lorna DeLong; and three brothers, Harold Houser, Maurice Houser, and Linford Houser.
A celebration of life service will be Friday, March 2, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the Hamilton Wesleyan Church, 4001 Terry Lake Road, Hamilton with Pastor David Leitzel officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the Hamilton Life Center for the parking lot fund or to Parkview Noble Hospice.
