Obituary

L. Scott Showen, 67, of Kendallville died Thursday, July 4, 2019, at his residence.

He was born October 16, 1951, in Valparaiso to Charles Edward and Marion Anne (Beckley) Showen.

He was a 1970 graduate of East Noble High School.

Scott honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1978.

On June 8, 1971, in Kendallville he married Terry Ann Siples.

He worked as a veteran's representative for the U.S. Government from 1989 to 2012.

He was a member of the Rome City United Methodist Church. Being very active in veteran's affairs, Scott was a member of the Kendallville VFW Post 2749, Kendallville American Legion Post 86, DAV Chapter 43, the 40&8, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, 60th Virginia Civil War Re-enactment group, and was an honorary member of the American Legion Riders.

Surviving are his wife, Terry Showen of Kendallville; a son and daughter-in-law, Todd Showen and Crystal Hamann-Showen of Marienville, Pennsylvania; a grandson, Gregory Edward Showen; and a great-grandson, Luke Edward Skinner.

He was preceded in death by a son, Chad E. Showen; a sister, Sue Morr; and two brothers, Russell Lee Showen and James Edward Showen.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 7, 2019, at 5 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with the Reverend Jerry Burghduff officiating. Burial will be at the Indiana Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Madison.

Honorary pallbearers are Todd Showen, Eric Daniels, Jeff Showen, Greg Showen, and Denny Nester.

Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard and active duty members of the U.S. Army.

Calling is Sunday, July 7, 2019, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to DAV Chapter 43, Corunna.
