Obituary

Kenneth C. "Butch" Ihrie, 72, of Kendallville and formerly of Wolcottville died Sunday, July 24, 2016, in his residence.

He was a lifetime area resident. He had spent the last 12 years at his winter home in Englewood, Florida.

Mr. Ihrie served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Kendallville VFW Post 2749 and Rome City American Legion Post 381.

Butch retired from road construction, having worked for Fox Construction and Ajax Construction.

He was born May 15, 1944, in Kendallville to Kenneth M. and Katherine (Branyan) Ihrie. They preceded him in death.

On October 6, 1999, in LaGrange he married Sharon L. Weimer. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2014.

Surviving are two stepsons, Bob (Becky) Moore of Wawaka and Michael Moore of Greensburg; two step daughters-in-law, Judy M. Moore of LaGrange and Judy Moore of Wolcottville; seven step grandchildren, Liberty Moore, Lauren Moore, Brittney Morgan, Justin Nuxoll, Heather Franklin, Trevor Moore, and Charlotte Grisso; and three step great-grandchildren, Luke Moore, Grant Franklin, and Cora Franklin; and a sister, Ruth Ann (Jack) Fifer of Port Charlotte, Florida.

He was also preceded in death by two stepsons, Daniel Moore and Pat Moore

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

Honor guard services will be provided by Kendallville VFW Post 2749, Rome City American Legion Post 381, and Kendallville American Legion Post 86.

Calling is Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Humane Society of Noble County or the Noble County Community Foundation.
