Calling: Sunday, July 14, 2013 - after 3 p.m. in the church where there will be an evening service at 6 p.m. **************************************************************************** Kelly Handshoe, 70, of Wolcottville died Thursday, July 11, 2013, in his residence.
He moved to the Wolcottville area in 1999 from Kentucky.
Mr. Handshoe owned and operated Kelly's Auto Repair and Body Shop in Dorton, Kentucky, for many years. He served on the Dorton, Kentucky, fire department for 25 years where he also served as the Fire Chief.
He was born January 24, 1943, in Rockfork, Kentucky, to Andy Handshoe and Betty Jane McDaniels. He was married on November 21, 1971, in Clintwood, Virginia, to Joyce A. Frazier. She survives in Wolcottville.
Also surviving are seven children.,Kelly Jo (Geraldine) Newsome of Wolcottville, Larry (Kim) Handshoe of Rome City, Rick Handshoe of Wolcottville, Diana Kirkpatrick of Rome City, Scott (Shelby) Handshoe of Dorton, Kentucky, Randy "Bo" (Sandy) Handshoe of Dorton, Kentucky, and Shelia Hoover of Rome City; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; his mother, Betty Jane McDaniels of Auburn; three sisters, Ruth Lacy of Garrett, Versia (Kenneth) Geyer of Auburn, and Dorthy (Robert) Acker of Auburn; four half sisters, Donna Bock of Auburn; Carolyn (Jim) Smith of Hindman, Kentucky, Nancy Collins, and Suzie Mae Gibson of Garrett, Kentucky; five half brothers, Andy Handshoe of Corunna, Bobbie Handshoe of Kendallville, Danny (Laurie) McDaniels of Leo, Donnie (Laurie) McDaniels of Auburn, and Ralph (Diane) McDaniels of Angola.
He was preceded in death by his father, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Independent Baptist Church in South Milford with Rev. Willie Collins officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Steven Newsome, Timmy Newsome, Andy Handshoe, Jasper Belcher, Bobby Acker, and Scott Handshoe.
Calling is Sunday, July 14, 2013, after 3 p.m. in the church where there will be an evening service at 6 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
