Obituary

Keith R. VanKleek, 95, of Kendallville and formerly of Pontiac, Michigan, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.

He moved to this area in 2001 after spending most of his life in Michigan and winters in North Fort Myers, Florida.

Mr. Van Kleek was a 74-year member of the Elks Lodge in Michigan. He was also a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp for one and a half years.

He retired from the sales distribution department of General Motors after 38 years.

He was born October 3, 1920, in Lapeer, Michigan, to Raymond J. and Winifred (Vandecar) VanKleek.

On February 14, 1945, in Pontiac, Michigan, he married Beatrice B. Shaw. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2011.

Surviving are a daughter, Gail (Donald) Warner of Kendallville; a son, Paul Kenneth (Carol) Godwin of Brighton, Michigan; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Moore.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 26, 2016, at 3 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Jim Mertz of the South Milford Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville at a later date.

Calling is Saturday, March 26, 2016, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to PALS Club at the South Milford Church of Christ.
