Keith Edward Leiter, 81, of Huntertown died Sunday, February 21, 2016, in Ashton Creek Nursing Home, Fort Wayne.
He was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Leiter served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959 and 1961-1963.
He retired from Magnavox in Fort Wayne after 27 years where he was a supply manager/supervisor.
He was an active member of Our Hope Lutheran Church in Huntertown where he served as an officer. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 178 in Garrett, the Lions Club in Huntertown, and the United Commercial Travelers of America.
He was born November 18, 1934, in Ege to Glen and Laura (Mallon) Leiter.
On June 1, 1957, in Kendallville he married Shirley A. Hammel. She survives in Huntertown.
Also surviving are two daughters, Dawn (Bob) VanEgmond of Canon City, Colorado and DeAnna (Rich) Chambers of Fort Wayne; a son, Keith E. (Judi) Leiter, II of Knoxville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Kristin (Chris) Hildreth of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ryan Monesmith of Boulder, Colorado, and Kyle Chambers of Detroit, Michigan; and a sister, Linda Tyler of LaOtto.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Suzanne Buehrer.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 26, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Our Hope Lutheran Church, 1826 Trinity Drive, Huntertown with Pastor Joe Fichtner officiating. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery in Marion at 2 p.m.
Calling is Friday, February 26, 2016, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Mental Health America of Indiana or to the family.
