Kathy Ann Johnson, 79, of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, died November 8, 2024, at Northern Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Angola.

She was born July 28, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio, to James and Betty (Taylor) Haas.

On November 7, 1964, in Toledo, Ohio, she married Howard James Johnson. He survives in Pleasant Lake.

Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker. She also babysat for many children through the years.

Kathy was known as the "hat lady", as she always wore a hat and had a large collection of hats. She loved to sing and work in the garden. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, and being out in the boat going for a ride or fishing.

Also surviving are two sons, Keith (Marlene) Johnson of Ashley and Troy William (Kym) Johnson of Corunna, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Holly Johnson, Corey Johnson, Danielle Morris, Savanna Minauro, Angela Eben, James Hafner, Michael Bonse, and Robert Bonse; 16 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Haas of Troy, Michigan

A memorial service will be Monday, November 18, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson with Pastor Regan Ford officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County in Kathy's memory.
