Calling: Monday, March 25, 2013 - 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home ************************************************************************* Katherine J. Hartnup, 89, of Kendallville died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 4:20 p.m. in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.

She moved to this area in 2007, coming from Coldwater Lake after spending most of her life in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Hartnup retired as a court supervisor for Allen County, Indiana.

She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Lodge #432 in Fort Wayne.

She was born March 14, 1924, in Troy, Tennessee to Ellis and Ada Jenkins. On September 2, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee, she married Richard W. Hartnup. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2009.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Tami Hartnup of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Judi Armstrong of Kendallville; three grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Cranford of Tiptonville, Tennessee, Mary Nichols of Hornbeak, Tennessee, and Peg (Coy) Adams of Ocala, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons of her heart, Gregory Armstrong and Ivan Pepple; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Harold and Marcella Jenkins and Robert Jenkins; four brothers-in-law, Dudley Stone, J.C. Nichols, Dave Scott, and Norval Cranford; and a sister-in-law, Helen Hubler.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Jim Kane of the Kendallville First Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne.

Calling is Monday, March 25, 2013, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Helping Hands in Rome City.
