Obituary

Katherine E. Chaffins, 90, of LaGrange died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 1:47 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange.

She was born March 14, 1928, in Whitley County to J. Raymond and Florence (Kyler) Messner.

She had worked at Flint & Walling in Kendallville and retired from Lyall Electric in Rome City.

She was a member of the Colonel Augustin de la Balme Chapter of the DAR in Whitley County for the past 69 years and was their oldest member.

Surviving are two sons, Jim (Deb) King of LaGrange and Brad (Cheri) King of Kendallville; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Delores (Robert) Krider of Columbia City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Chaffins; a sister, Janice Dailey; and her first husband, H. Lee King.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Mike Hamm of the Stroh Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery.

Calling is Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
