Obituary

Justin Michael Smead, 32, of Rome City tragically died Sunday, June 27, 2021, from the results of gunshot wounds at Gallop's Truck Stop in Kendallville.

He was born December 6, 1988, in Elkhart to Wayne K. and Lorra (Bartel) Smead.

He was employed by Creative Liquid Coatings in Kendallville.

Justin enjoyed working on cars. Making people happy was his priority in life, and he dearly loved his family.

Surviving are a daughter, Cambrie Smead of Angola; a son, Jace Smead of Angola; his mother, Lorra Smead of Toledo, Ohio; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Bartel of Toledo, Ohio; four sisters, Tracey (Jeremiah) Short of LaGrange, Cathy (Gary) Hollar of Elkhart, Kim (Ron) Frazier of LaGrange, and Jewel Smead of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Wayne (Brittany) Smead of LaGrange, Derek Smead of Toledo, Ohio, and Nick Smead of Albion; nieces and nephews, Cheyenne Short, Mimi Short, J.J. Short, Kylie Smead, Madison Smead, D.J. Smead, Anna Smead, Tison Smead, Taylor Hollar, Tyler Hollar, Toka Hollar, Matt Johnson, Chase Richards, Jessica Richards, Jonothan Richards, and several others.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two sisters, Candy Smead and Wendy Smead.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 2, 2021, at 5 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Billy Fields of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Wolcottville officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Visitation will be Friday, July 2, 2021, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the family for funeral expenses.
