Joy R. Kitter, age 71 of Wolcottville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on April 7th, surrounded by love.
Joy was born November 24th, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois. Joy married her soulmate, Mike in 1973, and together they shared 52 years of marriage, building a life on love, happiness, family, and countless memories.
Joy is survived by her husband Mike; sister Gayle Sullivan and Brother David Parthun. She was an inspiration to her daughters, Christina Kitter of Roanoke, Dawn Putt of Fort Wayne, and Jillian (Matthew) Uceny of Roanoke, and a bonus Daughter and niece, Brittany Parthun. A proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Joy is preceded on death by her parents George Parthun, Howard Kitter and Willa Mae Kitter; her brothers, Glenn Gromoll and Dean Parthun; her sisters, Lynn Gruss and Darlene Parthun; her granddaughters Maiyah and Brooklyn Putt as well as many dear friends whom she deeply loved.
Joy spent much of her life as an early childhood educator. She was a friend and a light in the lives of so many. She had a vibrant personality and a way of lighting up every room she entered. She loved to laugh, have fun, and bring happiness to those around her. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, traveling, and most of all, spending time with her family.
In lieu of flowers, Joy’s wish is that donations be made in the form of backpacks and school supplies to support children. Her daughters have established the Heart of Joy Foundation to continue her passion for helping others. https://www.facebook.com/share/1ZVBirLwLJ/?mibextid=wwXIfr
There will be a Memorial Service at The American Legion in Roanoke, Indiana on April 18th at 2:00pm.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
