Josephine Ellen "Jo" Housholder, 96, of Pretty Lake, Wolcottville died Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Northern Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Angola.
She was born March 4, 1927, in Milford Junction, Indiana, to Joseph and Ivah (Hamilton) Taylor.
On May 13, 1950, in Avilla she married Karl A. Housholder. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2019.
Jo was a 1946 graduate of Rome City School. She retired from Kraft Heinz Foods in Kendallville.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville, the Kendallville YMCA, and the Pretty Lake Conservation Club.
She enjoyed her flower garden, bird watching, and walking. She dearly loved living at Pretty Lake.
Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Sue (Roger) Getts of Fremont and Connie Jean (Michael) McKinney of Clearwater, Florida; three grandchildren, Vaughn (Tammy) Halsey of Angola, Robin Halsey of Kendallville, and Michael (Karol) McKinney, Jr. of Panama; seven great-grandchildren, Sierra Mullins, Logan Mullins, Trinity (Dustin) Sprague, Josiah Young, Joseph (April) Jarrett, Jeremy (Nick) Jarrett, and J. Tyler Jarrett; a great great-granddaughter, Lillith Sprague; a sister, Susan (Larry) Dixon of Kendallville; three brothers, Franklin Lee (Kathy) Taylor of Santee, California, Larry (Rose) Taylor of Albion, and Keith (Dorothy) Taylor of Springfield, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Getts; two sisters, Donna Avis Gaby and Sally Ann Neuman; and a brother, Richard Smith Taylor
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with her son-in-law, Pastor Michael W. McKinney, Sr. officiating.
Burial will be at Orange Cemetery, Rome City.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Roger Getts, Vaughn Halsey, Jeremy Jarrett, Nick Jarrett, Braden Jarrett, and Tyler Jarrett.
