Joseph E. King, 96, of Kendallville died Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Orchard Pointe Health Campus in Kendallville with his family at his side.

He was born March 22, 1921, in Roff, Oklahoma, to Jesse and Sarah (Beaty) King.

On August 3, 1940, in Atoka, Oklahoma, he married Cleo Tomlin. She survives in Kendallville. They were honored to celebrate their 77th wedding anniversary recently.

Mr. King honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He retired from International Harvester in Fort Wayne. He then worked for Renner's Express in Fort Wayne.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sara "Judy" Evers of Kendallville; a son, Donald H. (Diann Binkley) King of Knox; three grandchildren, Stephen (Denice) Evers, Angie King-Underwood, and Mindy (Kreig) Woods; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Glasglow of Midwest City, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

There will be no visitation or services.
