Joseph Ray DeCamp, 52, of Kendallville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 2, 2020, at his home.
Joe never knew a stranger, was a friend to all, lit up the room with his smile, and loved big. His children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews were loved and cherished by him, more than words could ever express. They were his pride and joy above all else. He loved his Oakland Raiders, riding his Harley Davidson, singing, being a whiz at Jeopardy, and his pup, Rocko.
He was born on February 27, 1968, in Marion, Indiana, to the late Rev. Russell and Phyllis (Smith) DeCamp.
Joe had worked at Smoker Craft in New Paris, Group Dekko in Avilla, and most recently, CrossRoads RV in Topeka.
He left behind his four children, Danielle (Brandon) Wood, Sasha (Donald) Taylor, Damien DeCamp and his fiancé, Amy Beran-Hall, and Desiree DeCamp and her fiancé, Austin Jimenez all of Kendallville; 14 grandchildren, Raylynn Taylor, Ava Atz, Grey Taylor, Nathaniel Wood, Adley Taylor, Lindsey Wood, Edeyn Taylor, Aria Atz, Ava Woody, Joseph DeCamp, Lilah'Rose Jimenez, DJ DeCamp, Santana Jimenez, and Jude Wood; four brothers, Russell (Rosemary) DeCamp of Wolcottville; Mark (Marlene) DeCamp of Wawaka, Phillip (Rebecca) DeCamp of LaGrange, and Lawrence (Sarah) DeCamp of South Milford; a sister, Judy; the love of his life, Michelle Forker of Kendallville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne and Nancy.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 8, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Kendallville Event Center, 615 Professional Way, Kendallville with Pastor Marc Buwalda of Pine Hills Kendallville officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.
Honorary pallbearers are Donald Taylor, Brandon Wood, Phillip DeCamp, Justin DeCamp, and Eric Bidwell. Active pallbearers are Damien DeCamp, Austin Jimenez, Lawrence DeCamp, Mark DeCamp, Scott Gose, and Russell DeCamp.
Calling is Wednesday, October 7, 2020, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Kendallville Event Center.
Per the Governor of Indiana, face masks are required to be worn.
Preferred memorials may be directed to the family for funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
