Obituary

John Edward Valenti, Jr., 81, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born December 29, 1942, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to John Edward Valenti, Sr. and Kathryn (Babinger) Valenti.

He married the love of his life, Lien Hoa Būi. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2023.

John honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1984. He was a Bronze Star recipient and had the honor of meeting several high-ranking military officials. He made beautiful elaborate cakes for many military celebrations, but still made time to bake and decorate his children's birthday cakes.

He was a member of the Kendallville VFW Post 2749; Kendallville American Legion Post 86 and DAV.

John loved having his family around and having big family get-togethers. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling with his wife and children. In the last year, he enjoyed attending Family Life Assembly of God in Kendallville with his daughter, Angelia.

Surviving are a daughter, Angelia Linh (Chris) Carter of Kendallville; two sons, John Edward Valenti, III and Timothy James Valenti both of Kendallville; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Adriana Lan Valenti on December 26, 2020; his father, John E. Valenti, Sr.; and his mother, Kathryn L. Valenti Jesse.

Military graveside services at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville will be held at a later date.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
