Obituary

John Fredrick Tritch, age 62, went home to his Savior on Monday, May 13, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer.

John was born October 10, 1961, to Richard and Mary (Zegelien) Tritch. He graduated from Prairie Heights High School in 1980 and Vincennes University in 1982. John married his high school sweetheart, Jennifer Rae Bodie, on January 30, 1982.

John's boyhood was spent on the family farm, with his parents and brothers, Mark and Tim. He fished, raised steer, and was active in 4H. In school, John participated in theatre, played percussion in the band, and was in FFA.

Jennifer was first drawn to John by his beautiful singing voice. He continued to sing and play guitar throughout his entire life, both at home for his family and at church. He enjoyed being outdoors; hiking, hunting, kayaking and gardening. He loved creating special outdoor spaces that included hardscapes and meticulously placed flowers. John and Jennifer took many trips together, often exploring the road less traveled. Most recently, they hiked three days on the Appalachian Trail with their two oldest grandsons, adventured through Yo-Se-Mite with their son and daughter-in-law (pom-poms have been launched), and backpacked a sunset gourmet dinner to the beach at Grand Mere State Park with their family. John also looked forward to maple syrup season each spring, when the family would work together to tap, gather, and boil in the Blue Heron sugar house. One of John and Jennifer's grandest projects was building their dream home themselves, an ongoing labor of love, ingenuity, and creativity.

John worked the vast majority of his career as a commercial electrician at J.O. Mory, where he built many professional and personal relationships over 30+ years. He was a field supervisor and trained apprentice electricians. He also occasionally ran the lift barge for Lakefront Pro and had planned to make that his part-time retirement gig.

Over the years he served as an elder and a deacon at Calvary Chapel North Lakes. John had a heart for supporting missionaries, hosting them in his home for meals and for times of respite.

John is survived by his wife; his children, Mandy & Blaine Williams, Erin & David Weilein, Dustin & Alyssa Tritch, and Ashlynn Tritch; his grandchildren, Johnathan & Harrison Williams, and Nathaniel, Elliahna, Sharlette & Darin Weilein; a large extended family; and many dear friends.

A service to celebrate John's life will be held on Monday, May 27 at 4:00 pm. Due to space concerns, the service has been moved to the Stroh Church of Christ. Immediately following the service, a meal and time of fellowship will be held at The Heron, John and Jennifer's home. In case of inclement weather, the meal and fellowship will also be held at the Stroh Church of Christ.

A private graveside service will be held at Wright Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Chapel North Lakes, for the building and missionary funds.

Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson/Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson is assisting the family with arrangements.
