John R. Saylor, 72, of Wolcottville, Indiana died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his residence.

He was born January 22, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Billy and Lou (Wade) Saylor.

He married Judith Ann Davidson in August of 1977.

John retired from the maintenance department of Kraft Foods in Kendallville after 29 years.

He found his greatest joys in life's simple and meaningful pleasures. Whether casting a line into quiet waters at dawn, rewatching episodes of Star Trek with the curiosity of a lifelong explorer, or settling in with a classic wartime film from Hollywood's golden era, he embraced each moment with appreciation and enthusiasm. He also cherished the freedom of the open road, riding his motorcycle whenever his health allowed, feeling the wind on his face and the peace it brought him. These passions reflected his adventurous spirit, thoughtful nature, and deep love for both imagination and the world around him.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Judith A. Saylor of Wolcottville; two sister, Shawna Turner of Newtown, Ohio, and Connie Hodel of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Vincent (Kris) Davidson, Jr. of Cree Lake, Kendallville; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 23, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Visitation will also be on Monday, one hour prior to the funeral services at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Wolcottville.

Pallbearers will be William Davis, Derek Davidson, Jaykob Davidson, Jayden Davidson, Brandon Hudson, Kyler Davidson.
