John William Rosenogle, 95, of Wawaka passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 4:06 p.m. in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.
He was a lifetime area resident.
John was a farmer near Wawaka where he raised chickens and turkeys commercially. He was also a Noble County Dairy Herd Improvement supervisor from 1956 - 1994. After retirement he was a custodian for Community State Bank until 2005.
His hobbies were woodworking, writing his autobiography and tinkering with his antique tractors.
A man of the soil, he was committed to his crops, flowers and gardens. John was a kind man who loved his family, family events, cookouts, camping, and traveling. He enjoyed visiting with everyone, telling stories, and passing on a good joke.
Mr. Rosenogle was a member of the Kimmell United Methodist Church.
He was born May 12, 1920, in Jefferson Township, Noble County to James and Cora Belle (Sieber) Rosenogle. They preceded him in death.
On August 19, 1943, in Wawaka, he married Rosalie J. Gangwer in the Brethren Church of Wawaka. She survives in Kendallville.
Also surviving are a three daughters, Rita (Jim) Coats of Albion, Bernita (Mike) Smith of Wawaka, and Dorothy (Richard) Bauman of Kendallville; a granddaughter, Rebecca (Chris) Gonzalez of Albion; four grandsons, Andrew (Vicki) Coats of Wawaka, Alvin (Cheryl) Bauman of Seymour, John (Ashton) Bauman and Jerry (Leah) Bauman of Kendallville; eight great-grandchildren, Sierra Gonzalez, Christina, Isaac, and Jacob Coats, Cora Bauman, Hunter and Grady Donley, and Lana Bauman.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Allen Rosenogle; a sister, Helen Chokey; four brothers, Ernest, Harold, Forrest, and Herbert Rosenogle; and a half-brother, Glen Owen.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 1, 2016, at 6 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Chaplain Mike Wakeland officiating. Private family burial will be on Monday in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Calling is Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
