John Craig Riley, 73 of LaGrange, Indiana died Thursday, February 23, 2023, surrounded by his family at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born December 31, 1949, to Wilson and Dorothy (Marquardt) Riley.

In 1992 in Allen County, he married Mary Weingartner.

John honorably served in the US Navy.

He was an electrician and had worked for HWI, Gladieux, and Magnavox all in Fort Wayne and Dana/Eaton in Auburn.

He was a member of the Auburn American Legion Post 97 and the Auburn Elks Lodge #1978.

John was an avid nature lover. He enjoyed bird watching, mushroom hunting, fishing, watching horses and going to the trout rearing station at Curtis Creek near Howe.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Riley of LaGrange; three sons, Adam (Jennifer) Riley of Bradenton, Florida, Andrew (Shannon) Riley of Woodburn, and Dustin Weingartner of LaGrange; nine grandchildren, Nick, Haleigh, Wilson, Maggie, Lillian, Amelia, Haley, Jordan, and Isaiah; two great-grandchildren, Amara and Dahlia; a brother, Mark (Sheila) Riley of Monroeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Riley; and a sister-in-law, Gale Riley.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Honor Guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
