John Michael "Mike" Reade, 61, of Wolcottville passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 12:07 p.m. in his residence after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 28, 1955, in LaGrange to John Edward and Jacqueline (Minnick) Reade. They survive in Wolcottville.
On November 16, 1979, in Wolcottville he married Kris L. Brickley. She survives in Wolcottville.
He was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Reade retired from the LaGrange County Highway Department.
He was a member of the LaGrange Masonic Lodge #76 and the National Rifle Association.
Mike was an avid fisherman, birdwatcher, and photographer. His greatest joys were his three beautiful daughters and his six wonderful grandchildren.
Also surviving are three daughters, Kelly (Colin) Clifford of Columbia City, Kathleen (Dave) Echterling of LaGrange, and Kimberly (Nate) Yoder of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Brad Echterling, Case Yoder, Luke Yoder, Annie Echterling, Howie Clifford, and Phoebe Clifford; his Godson, Nick Gerardot of Wolcottville; one sister, Christy Schrock of Sturgis, Michigan; and one brother, Tom (Jody) Reade of South Bend.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 10, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Rev. Ken Weaver of Parkview Noble Home Health & Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.
Calling is Thursday, March 9, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Home Health & Hospice or to the LaGrange County Parks Department.
