Calling: Tuesday, August 19, 2014 - 4 to 8 p.m. Rosary service at 7:45 p.m. Calling also one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday ********************************************************************************************* Joan Rita Weingartner, 84, of Messick Lake died Friday, August 15, 2014, at 9:22 p.m.
She moved to this area in 1986, coming from Fort Wayne.
Joan was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Weingartner was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City.
She retired in 1989 from ITT Credit Union in Fort Wayne where she was the office manager.
She was born November 16, 1929, in Fort Wayne to George and Edna.
On June 9, 1951, in Fort Wayne she married Donald Charles Weingartner. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1997.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary (John) Riley of Fish Lake, Rita (Jim) Zuber of Fort Wayne, and Rose (Neil) Klingaman of Columbia City; a son, Daniel (Rachel) Weingartner of St. Joe; nine grandchidlren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly (Jerry) Welker of Fort Wayne.
She was also preceded in death by a son, David Weingartner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City with Father Bernard Ramenaden officiating. Burial will be in St. Gaspar Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Weingartner, Samuel Weingartner, Garrett Weingartner, Colin Weingartner, Adam Zuber, Tim Zuber, Matthew Neer, Matthew Reichenbacher, and Courtney Fettinger.
Calling is Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville. A Rosary service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Calling will also be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
Preferred memorials are Masses to St. Gaspar Catholic Church.
