Obituary

Joan Clare Studebaker, 66, of Kendallville died Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 11:35 a.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

She had resided in this area for 40 years, coming from Anderson.

Mrs. Studebaker was a homemaker.

Joan loved to crochet, make jewelry, and work on puzzles.

She was born January 16, 1950, in Virginia to Robert and Alma (Howerton) Gourley.

In March, 1991, she married William Jay "Bill" Studebaker. He survives in Kendallville.

Also surviving are a daughter, Samantha Brake of Goshen; a son, Justin Smith, serving with the U.S. Army in Oklahoma; a stepdaughter, Tina (Brian) Collett of Wawaka; a stepson, Michael (Angela) Studebaker of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Jennifer Niccum of Anderson; and a brother, Robert Gourley of Phoenix, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Jackie McIntire and Jeannette Freestone.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at 5 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Regan Ford officiating.

Calling is Tuesday, February 2, 2016, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the funeral home.
